The Notgames Fest is an exhibition about not-so-gamey but playful interactive media. In collaboration with the Belgium-based game studio Tale of Tales, the Cologne Game Lab is the host of the bi-annual event.
At the 2013 GDC in San Francisco I had the chance to talk to Brenda Romero who presented her board game “Train” – a highly metaphorical game that reflects the holocaust.
A lot of young people are opting for a career “in the media”. To support young women in their decision making process, the Grimme Institute has established the annual InfoDay “MedienfrauenNRW”. The event provides the participants with an overview on the many many different job opportunities, career paths and challenges women face between work-life and family. In my new role for Business Development Games and Interactive at the UFA Lab In Cologne, I was invited to be part of the opening discussion about the future of games and interactive media at this year´s Deutscher Entwicklerpreis which is the German equivalent to the Game Developers Choice Awards.
